COVend represented at Euroanaesthesia Congress 2023

The COVend partners European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), held a successful Euroanaesthesia 2023 (EA23) Congress from 03 June 2023 – 05 June 2023 in Glasgow, Scotland. This year’s Euroanaesthesia programme included sessions on a wide range of topics, from general anaesthesiology to intensive care, critical emergency and pain medicine, and approaching science from the different angles of patients, organs, therapies and more. Scientific sessions were held in various formats to increase interactions and adapt to all learning preferences. In addition, an extensive workshops programme offered a mix of learning experiences and continued promoting innovation in medical education. As such, Euroanaesthesia delegates also acquired technical and non-technical skills through various practical workshops, serious games and simulation sessions targeted to all levels of participants.

All ESAIC activities and special Committee sessions were showcased in the ESAIC Expo, a central room entirely dedicated to presenting ESAIC projects and initiatives, including the opportunity for delegates to meet key stakeholders of ESAIC projects and Committees. Thus, at Euroanaesthesia 2023 COVend was represented by Dr. Benjamin Friedrichson and the project coordinator, Prof. Dr. Dr. Kai Zacharowski. Two COVend posters were exhibited at the special ESAIC EU Project Booth showcasing the project. These posters give insights into the accomplishments of the project that include:
  • Health-economic modelling facilitates market access and reimbursement decisions for FX06 therapies
  • FX06 alleviates hyperinflammation and capillary leak
  • FX06 alters the protein expression pattern of ECs after stimulation with COVID-19-triggered cytokines

In addition, the ESAIC Glasgow Declaration on Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EGD) was officially signed today during the inauguration of the Exhibition at Euroanaesthesia 2023, marking a monumental moment in healthcare history. This historic declaration signifies a unified commitment by leading experts to elevate the standards of anaesthesiology and intensive care worldwide. The signing of this declaration paves the way for enhanced collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the implementation of cutting-edge practices across the globe, making our healthcare systems greener. Among signees and main authors of the EDG is the COVend partner and ESAIC President – Prof. Edoardo De Robertis (UNIPG).

In conclusion, Euroanaesthesia 2023 Europe’s landmark meeting on anaesthesia, intensive care, pain, perioperative medicine, and critical emergency medicine was an inspiring and joyful experience to advance the future of healthcare in Europe. The next Euroanaesthesia Congress will take place in 2024, in Munich, Germany.

A special thanks to all our partners from ESAIC. Congratulations!
