On the 10th and 11th of October, the COVend consortium came together in Barcelona to discuss the state of play of the project and define the next steps.

After much discussion, we still face some major challenges in the near future, namely because we don’t know how the pandemic will evolve in the next months and we can’t predict the challenges that EU healthcare systems will face this winter. Despite the optimism of the clinical partners regarding recruitment for the clinical trial, the consortium has a plan in place to evaluate the progress of COVID-19 cases on a weekly basis. In the meantime, preparations for the first reporting period have already started!
